Dual Enrollment System
(Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit)

§ 37-15-38 A local school board, the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning, and the State Board for Community Colleges shall establish a dual enrollment system under which students in the school district who meet the prescribed criteria of this section may be enrolled in a postsecondary institution in Mississippi while they are still in school.

During the 2016 Regular Session, the Mississippi Legislature adopted SB 2064, which revises §37-15-38 effective July 1, 2016. Click here to review SB 2064 as signed into law by Governor Phil Bryant.

Academic Eligibility Criteria for Participation in Mississippi's Dual Enrollment System
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on all high school courses and
  • Successful completion of 14 core high school units and/or junior status and
  • Written recommendation from school principal or guidance counselor

OR

  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on all high school courses and
  • Minimum composite ACT score of 30 or the equivalent SAT score and
  • Written recommendation from school principal or guidance counselor
