Note: Requests for public records from the Mississippi's nine public higher education institutions must be submitted directly to the applicable institution. Also, IHL employees provide administrative services for certain other state entities. If you are seeking public records related to the operation of those other state entities, you must submit your public records request directly to the applicable entity.

After submission of a Public Records Request, an initial cost estimate will be provided. This estimate will be based on the hourly rate of compensation for the lowest paid agency employee or contractor qualified to perform the task (see Rule #8, Mississippi Model Public Records Rules). The estimate must be paid in advance to cover the cost of conducting a search of public records and is not a guarantee that responsive documents will be found. Additional costs for copying may apply if public records are located.
