The Mississippi University Research Authority (MURA) was established by the Mississippi Legislature in 1992 (§37-147-1) to "promote the public welfare and prosperity of the people of Mississippi and foster economic development within the state by forging links among the state's educational institutions, businesses and industrial communities and state government through the development of cooperative ventures of innovative technological significance which will advance education, research or economic development within the state."
Leadership of MURA is determined by the IHL Board of Trustees and includes research officers of the eight (8) institutions of higher learning and the University of Mississippi Medical Center, the vice president of the IHL Board, the director of the Mississippi Development Authority (or his or her designee), and the commissioner of higher education as an ex officio, non-voting member.
The MURA board will hold a virtual meeting at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16. Members of the public may watch the meeting in Room 108 of the Paul B. Johnson Tower, located at 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, Miss., 39211.
