Pursuant to Miss. Code Ann. §25-61-19, the following legislation was enacted during the 2026 session that revised the powers and duties of the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning:
- HB 750 – This bill extends the repealer to 2029 for the SMART Business program, which provides $1.5 million to help researchers at UM, MSU, USM, JSU, and UMMC to commercialize their work.
- SB 2258 – This bill establishes the Mississippi-Ireland Trade Commission to encourage trade relations. The IHL Commissioner, or designee, sits as a non-voting member.
SB 2524 – This act repeals the Mississippi Education Achievement Council and replaces it with the Mississippi Postsecondary Attainment Council (M-PAC).
