UPDATED: BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO MEET AUGUST 17, 18

The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning will meet on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, beginning at 7:00 p.m. to hear a presentation on the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The Board and public may attend the meeting in the Norman C. Nelson Student Union, Rooms A & B, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216.

The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, August 18, 2011, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Members of the Board may participate in the meeting via teleconference. The Board and public may attend the meeting in the Norman C. Nelson Student Union, Rooms C & D, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216. An Executive Session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

The Standing Committees of the Board of Trustees will meet beginning at 1:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Norman C. Nelson Student Union according to the following schedule:

  • Budget, chaired by Trustee Aubrey Patterson, and Real Estate, chaired by Trustee Scott Ross, Associated Student Body (ASB) Suite
  • Academic Affairs, chaired by Trustee Doug Rouse, Board Room

The committees will meet to discuss issues related to the successes, needs and opportunities in each area. Following the committee meetings, the Board will reconvene for a joint presentation on clinical issues in the Norman C. Nelson Student Union, Rooms C & D. Following the presentation, a brief walking tour of UMMC will be held at approximately 4:00 p.m. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

The Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning governs the public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
