BOARD TO HOLD COMMITTEE AND BOARD MEETING; CONDUCT ANNUAL RETREAT

On Tuesday, June 17, 2008, the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) will hold a Budget, Finance, and Audit Committee meeting and its regular monthly meeting in the President’s Conference Room 102 in the University of Southern Mississippi’s Lucas Administration Building, 118 College Drive, Hattiesburg, MS 39406.

The Board’s Budget, Finance, and Audit Committee, chaired by Trustee Aubrey Patterson, will hold a committee meeting beginning at 1:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss items on the Budget, Finance, and Audit Committee agenda. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

Following the Budget, Finance, and Audit Committee meeting, the Board will hold its regular monthly meeting. The full Board will convene at 2:30 p.m. and will then conduct business as a committee of the whole. Various Board committees, including Budget, Finance, and Audit; Real Estate and Facilities; and Governance/Legal, will meet as part of the Board meeting. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

The Board will hold its annual retreat on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, beginning at 8:30 a.m., and Thursday, June 19, also beginning at 8:30 a.m., at Longleaf Plantation, 78 Baker Road, Purvis, MS 39475. The purpose of the annual retreat is to discuss topics of interest to the Board for the upcoming year. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

The Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning governs the eight public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
