The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) has scheduled several committee meetings on Tuesday, August 14, 2007. All committee meetings will take place in the IHL Board Room in the Universities Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS, 39211. For each committee meeting, an executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

The IHL Educational Policies and Procedures Committee, chaired by Trustee Bettye Neely, will meet beginning at 11:30 a.m. for the purpose of discussing items on the August 15 Educational Policies and Programs Board meeting agenda and other items.

The IHL Gulf Coast Committee, chaired by Trustee Amy Whitten, will meet beginning at 1:00 p.m. for the purpose of receiving an update on recent activities on the Gulf Coast.

The IHL Strategic Planning Committee, chaired by Trustee Thomas Colbert, will meet beginning at 2:30 p.m. for the purpose of reviewing background data and exploring options for developing a new strategic plan.

Finally, the IHL Commissioner’s Evaluation Committee, also chaired by Trustee Thomas Colbert, will meet beginning at 3:45 p.m. for the purpose of conducting a performance evaluation of Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Thomas C. Meredith.

Under the leadership of the Board of Trustees, IHL governs the public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
