BOARD TO DETERMINE PREFERRED CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENTIAL POSITIONS AT ALCORN STATE AND SOUTHERN MISS

The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) will meet on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the IHL Board Room in the Universities Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS, 39211, for the purpose of discussing candidates for the next president of Alcorn State University. Representatives from the Alcorn State Search Advisory Committee will participate in the discussion with the Board of Trustees, Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Thomas C. Meredith, and search consultant Dr. Jan Greenwood. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

The Board will hold a second meeting on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, beginning at 12:30 p.m. also in the IHL Board Room in the Universities Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS, 39211, for the purpose of discussing candidates for the next president of the University of Southern Mississippi. Representatives from the Southern Miss Search Advisory Committee will participate in the discussion with the Board of Trustees, Commissioner Meredith, and search consultant Dr. Jan Greenwood. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

A press conference will be held following the adjournment of the second meeting to announce the preferred candidates for the position of president at both Alcorn State and Southern Miss. The preferred candidate for the position of president at Alcorn State will be brought to the Lorman campus on April 3, 2007, to engage in open interviews with various campus constituency groups. The preferred candidate for the position of president at Southern Miss will be brought to the Hattiesburg campus on April 5, 2007, also for open interviews with various campus constituency groups.
