The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) will hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, October 18, 2006, beginning at 1:30 p.m., in the Norman C. Nelson Student Union of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS, 39216. The full Board will convene at 1:30 p.m., and will then conduct business as a committee of the whole. The Board meeting will continue Thursday, October 19, with the full Board convening at 8:30 a.m. Because the meeting will not be held in the IHL Board Room, it will not be webcast.

Various Board committees, including Educational Policies and Programs; Budget, Finance and Audit; Real Estate and Facilities; Legal; Governance; Administration/Policy; and Personnel will meet as part of the Board meeting. In addition, the Board will hear presentations by Dr. David S. Spence, President of the Southern Regional Education Board; Dr. Daniel Jones, Vice Chancellor of the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and Marsha Kelly, Executive Director of the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service. An executive session may be held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

Under the leadership of the Board of Trustees, IHL governs the public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
