The monthly meeting of the Mississippi Board of Trustees for the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) to be held Wednesday, September 20, 2006, beginning at 1:30 p.m., will be webcast and available for viewing online.  All IHL Board meetings are open to the general public; however, this is the first time the meeting has ever been webcast.

"The Board is excited that our new webcasting capability will add to the transparency of the IHL governing process," said Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Thomas C. Meredith. "We want to make the business of higher education more accessible and more understandable to all citizens."

Anyone interested in viewing this week's Board meeting and future Board meetings may do so by following the link to the webcast on the IHL homepage, www.ihl.state.ms.us.  An archive of the webcasts will be made available on the IHL website.

Under the leadership of the Board of Trustees, IHL governs the public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
