Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr. Thomas C. Meredith, has called an emergency teleconference meeting of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning pursuant to MS. Code ann. Section 25-41-5.  The purpose of this emergency meeting is to appoint an interim president of Alcorn State University following the sudden death of President Clinton Bristow.  The teleconference will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2006.

Members of the public or press who would like to attend the emergency teleconference may do so by coming to Room 935, on the ninth floor of the Paul B. Johnson tower building located in the Education and Research Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, Mississippi.

Under the leadership of the Board of Trustees, IHL governs the public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
