EDUCATION ACHIEVEMENT COUNCIL TO MEET THURSDAY, JANUARY 28

The Mississippi Education Achievement Council will meet at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 in the IHL Board Room, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS 39211.

Jennifer Zinth, Director of High School and STEM for Education Commission of the States, will give a presentation on the components of model policy on dual enrollment. In her role at ECS, she conducts research and analysis and counsels states on numerous issues related to high school/college readiness, transitions to postsecondary education and on STEM topics from early learning through postsecondary.

The council was established by the Mississippi Legislature during the 2010 regular session to establish education achievement goals for the state, monitor and report on the state's progress toward these goals and prepare an annual report card compiled from the annual reports submitted by each state institution of higher learning and community and junior college in the state.

The Mississippi Education Achievement Council consists of representatives of the Mississippi Legislature, the Governor's Office, the State Institutions of Higher Learning, Mississippi's Community and Junior Colleges, the Mississippi State Board of Education, the Mississippi Department of Mental Health and the Mississippi Economic Council.
