GET READY FOR COLLEGE

ACT and Other Tests

Tests are probably the last thing you want to spend more time thinking about. But, you are going to need to take some standardized tests, so you might as well be ready for them.

These tests are used for college admission, course placement, and for scholarships, so they are important. Your scores can help you decide which college might be a better fit in terms of academic expectations and opportunities.

Take practice tests beginning in 8th grade, and take the ACT and/or SAT more than once, if possible.

Both the ACT and SAT are accepted at Mississippi colleges, but the ACT is more widely requested.  Because of this, you may hear people refer to Mississippi as an ACT state.  Nevertheless, if you are thinking about going out of state to college, the SAT may be required.
