UNIVERSITY ENROLLMENT REMAINS LEVEL AS FALL SEMESTER BEGINS

9/13/2018 - Jackson, Miss.

Fall enrollment at Mississippi Public Universities remains level when compared to Fall 2017 figures. Preliminary figures indicate Fall enrollment for 2018 is 80,592 for the system, compared to 81,378 students enrolled in Fall 2017, representing a 1 percent decrease.

"Our students are investing in their futures when they enroll in one of our universities and this investment will pay off for them as individuals and for society as a whole," said Dr. Alfred Rankins Jr., Commissioner of Higher Education. "College graduates earn more, pay more in taxes and are less likely to be unemployed or need social services. Earning a bachelor's or advanced degree is a game-changer for an individual and increasing the number of Mississippians with a degree is a game-changer for our state."
