Campus Safety

No person's safety is guaranteed all the time.  However, there are a number of things your child can do to improve her level of safety on campus:

  • Know routes between residence halls and classes.
  • When walking alone on campus, stay on well-lit paths.  Don't take back ways or cut-throughs.
  • Carry a whistle or mace on a key chain.
  • Have a buddy system at parties, events, etc.
  • Lock the door to your dorm room at all times.
  • Take an alcohol awareness class.  Many schools offer these during Freshmen Orientation or provide access to online alcohol awareness programs.
  • Treat the fire safety codes with respect.
