Credits Needed for College Admission
Some colleges, including the state’s eight public universities, require specific high school courses for admission. The community and junior colleges do not require specific courses, as long as the student has a GED or high school diploma.
At the public universities, the required courses are referred to as the College Prep Curriculum, or CPC. Just because your child graduates high school does NOT mean that he has taken the CPC – they aren’t the same.
Be aware that the CPC is changing in 2012. Here are the details:
For enrollment before the summer of 2012
For enrollment beginning with the summer of 2012
NOTE: If your child does NOT take the CPC and wants to go to a public university, she still has options. See the Public University Admission Standards in the Apply for Admission section.
