MISSISSIPPI DELTA STRATEGIC COMPACT TO HOLD TOWN HALL MEETINGS IN GREENVILLE, CLARKSDALE

The Mississippi Delta Strategic Compact (MDSC) will conduct two regional town hall meetings to present information on the Promise Zone application and to receive public input.

Meetings will be held on the following dates:

  • Monday, November 18, 6:00 p.m., at the Washington County Convention Center, 1040 S. Raceway Road in Greenville
  • Tuesday, November 19, 6:00 p.m. in at the City Hall Council Chambers, 121 Sunflower Avenue in Clarksdale

“Promise Zones” are designated areas in which the federal government will partner with communities and make investments to create jobs, increase economic activity, leverage private investment, expand educational opportunities, and improve public safety. The Delta is competing with areas throughout the U.S. for this federal designation.

The meetings will include a presentation on the Promise Zone initiative and application process, followed by comments and suggestions from the public.

The Mississippi Delta Strategic Compact (MDSC) is a not-for-profit organization committed to working with other organizations toward a common purpose: To improve the quality of life for all Delta citizens. MDSC was formed in 2010 to carry out a mandate from the Mississippi Legislature to begin a region-wide process to revitalize the Mississippi Delta.
