The mission of the Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid is to provide all qualified college and college-bound students with state-funded financial assistance, with a focus on Mississippi residents. In keeping with this mission, we have created one, easy to complete, application to enable student to apply for all state-funded scholarships, grants or loans.

Under the governance of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning, the Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid is responsible for the administration of all state-funded financial aid programs, including grants, scholarships and loans. These funds provide assistance to Mississippi residents in pursuit of their educational and professional goals.

Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers & Firemen Scholarship. The program requirements listed below should not be considered as the only requirements for participation in this program. Additional information will be provided with the application.

Application Deadline: OPEN

Available to the student who:

dark blue box Is the spouse or dependent child of a full-time law officer or full-time firemen who was fatally injured or totally disabled from injuries which occurred while performing official duties who was a Mississippi resident at the time of death or injury

dark blue box Meets the satisfactory academic standards for admission to a public university or community college in Mississippi

dark blue box Is a full-time student at a Mississippi public college or university

Renewal: All continuing participants must:

dark blue box Exhibit satisfactory academic progress as established by the institution throughout the normal time required to complete the degree curriculum. For purposes of this program, the normal time required will be determined by when the student began the approved degree program

Award Amount and Length of Eligibility: Tuition, required fees and the average cost of campus housing at a public university or community college. Eligibility for funds cannot exceed eight (8) semesters or the normal time required to complete the degree curriculum for the individual student, whichever comes first.
