UPDATE: Goals and Recommendations, 2008 (Presented to the Legislature by the Special Task Force for The Revitalization of the Delta Region)

The special task force for revitalization of the Mississippi Delta Region was created in the 2006 regular legislative session by HB1034. The purpose of the special task force is to set measurable, achievable and significant goals to revitalize the Mississippi Delta region.

The special task force began its work in June 2006. Public hearings were held throughout the Delta region and the special task force divided into six issue groups that held numerous hearings.

  • July 20: Greenvile
  • July 29: Tunica
  • July 29: Clarksdale
  • August 6: Yazoo City
  • August 12: Fayette
  • August 24: Belzoni
  • August 26: Greenwood
The first report of the Delta Revitalization Task Force was presented to the the Mississippi Legislature and Governor at the beginning of the 2007 Regular Legislative Session.

The special task force is authorized to continue operating through June 30, 2009.
