Mr. C. D. Smith was appointed to the Board by Governor Haley Barbour in May 2008 to represent the Central Supreme Court District for a term to expire May 7, 2018.
Mr. Smith is a regional manager with AT&T in Meridian. He is chair of the board of trustees for Meridian Community College and chair of the board of directors of the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Institute. Mr. Smith is a member of the board of directors of the Columbus-Lowndes Industrial Development Corporation; Kosciusko Industrial Development Corporation; Meridian Area Navy League; State Games of Mississippi; Momentum Mississippi; and the Meridian Little Theatre (past president). He serves on the board of governors for the Mississippi Economic Council and is a trustee on the Riley Hospital Advisory Board and Trustmark National Bank Advisory Board. Mr. Smith is also a member of the Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development Commission (WIRED), Meridian Rotary Club, and Mississippi Air National Guard.
Mr. Smith has a bachelor's degree in business and industry and master's degree in business administration, both from Mississippi State University. He previously served on the national board of directors of the MSU Alumni Association.
Mr. Smith has received several awards for community service including The Meridian Star's Citizen of the Year and Man of the Year awards; the Meridian Civitan Club's Citizen of the Year award; the Sertoma Club Mississippi District's Service to Mankind Award; and the Bar Association of Lauderdale County's Liberty Bell Award.
Mr. Smith is married to the former Linda Joyce Bishop and has three children, Cynthia, Drew, and Danielle.
